Some Accomplishments During Beth’s Leadership in Ward 3 & Citywide Include

  • City taxes have not been raised
  • The budget has been balanced all four years without cutting service levels, jobs, hours of operation or furloughing employees while still completing capital improvement projects needed
  • New economic development occurred with new small businesses and a supercenter business opening in Ward 3 and citywide
  • The North Suburban 24/7 Emergency Care Center in Ward 3 is currently under construction at 128th & Holly Street
  • New water main lines were installed in Ward 3
  • Speed controls have been put in place in iWatch neighborhoods in Ward 3 and citywide
  • The consolidated joint-use fleet facility partnership with Adams 12 Five Star School District opened that will save taxpayer dollars
  • The Brantner Gulch underpass and walkway improvement was approved in Ward 3
  • The Veteran’s Memorial Aquatics Center was opened in Ward 3 in partnership with Adams 12 Five Star School District on 136th Ave. 
  • The 120th Avenue & Colorado Blvd. intersection has been approved and will be improved
  • Thornton Trail Winds Park opened in Ward 3 with Thornton’s only dog park & a new skate park is being built at 136th & Holly Street
  • The 84th Avenue bridge interchange is being reconstructed in a partnership with CDOT
  • Expanded City trash, recycling and other collection services
  • A successful Graffiti removal program was initiated for residents and businesses
  • Street rehabilitation mill & paving continues to be done citywide
  • Thornton partnered with the National League of Cities to offer a prescription drug program for residents
  • New citizen Advisory Boards & Councils were established that make recommendations to City Council
  • The Thornton Arts & Culture Center building was purchased, rehabilitated and opened
  • Worked with TASHCO to place the Communis sculpture produced by a Thornton artist at City Hall 
  • The Thornton Community Band, Thornton Community Choir & Community Theatre Group were established and are going strong
  • Amenities were approved to complete the Margaret Carpenter Recreation Center build-out
  • Thornton received Playful City USA designation for the past three years 
  • The Businesses of Thornton Advisory Commission a liaison group between local businesses and the City was initiated by Beth
  • Initiated the island improvement partnership with Northglenn to install disabled citizen and pedestrian access at Grant St. and 104th Ave.
  • Championed the new stop light to assist Firefighters as well as pedestrians at Thornton Parkway and Dorothy Blvd. to improve safety
  • Asked for signage and retiming of the walk light on Thornton Parkway at the South end of the Safeway development to improve pedestrian safety
  • Approved the purchase of a fourth ambulance for our First Responders to be housed in Ward 3 to improve resident response time
  • Successful lobbying on behalf of Thornton and its residents at the State level and in Washington DC.  Congressional  and State lawmakers as well as Government Agencies are aware of the City of Thornton.  We are now on Capitol Hill’s radar
